Fourth of July in Barnwell SC

I have had a love for fireworks since I was a young child. My grandfather who was 95 when he passed away never gave up the chance to view them or to take us; once when I was an adult he called and asked my mother and my family to travel 6 hours to Florida to go watch them at the country club… we piled in the car and went!

I have viewed them in various locations, over the beach, a river, in my hometown, Connecticut, Disney World and once while traveling through Richmond VA we saw them from the car… what a beautiful sight that was.

This year we gathered at the Veteran’s Memorial Park in Barnwell to watch them, listen to the local military band from Ft. Gordon and enjoyed the company of many of our family who had also come out for the fourth. Top left: Althea and her Papa pointing at the sky. Bottom left: Althea and her mom waiting for another round of fireworks.

Grayson and Althea; seconds cousins looking like siblings!

Althea before we went to the park.

What a wonderful country we live in and what a privilege it is to be able to publicly gather and enjoy the music, friendship and fireworks.

I'm so taken with the look on the little one's face, I wonder what she is thinking. Lovely fireworks, too.

You're absolutely right about how wonderful it is to live in this country, and a priviledge!
